The principles of tensiometry
Tensiometry allows to continuously monitor the soil moisture status, and to determine the amount of water available for plants. For this purpose, tensiometric probes, such as Watermark®, are used. They measure the soil’s water : i.e. the energy deployed by the root to extract water from the soil.
Urbasense uses the capabilities of the tensiometric probe to provide a service to monitor the root quality of plantations and the efficiency of watering:
Why Urbasense choose tensiometry?
Tensiometric sensors offer reliability, accuracy and measuring range that conventional humidity sensors do not provide:
Immediately operational.
recommendations the day after installation
A measuring capacity for all types of soil
No specific calibration of sensors
A reliable measurement
No impact of nutrients (conductivity) on the quality of measurements.
